An educationist and an administrator, Prof. is the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Bayero University Kano (BUK), with 20 years of experience in academics and a good background in education, science, and technology. He obtained his first degree, Bachelor of Education (Metalwork Technology) in 1999 from Ahmadu Bello University (A.B.U.), Zaria, Master’s degree in Industrial Technology Education at Federal University of Technology (FUT) Yola, Adamawa State, in 2007, and a National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Kaduna Polytechnic (Kad. Poly) in 1992. Ali Idris hailed from Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State. He attended Gezawa Primary School (1976-1982), Government College Birnin-Kudu (1982-1985), and Government Technical College Kano (1985-1988).
His career in education started when he joined the Federal Ministry of Education in 1992. Immediately after his return from the university, he was posted to Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC) Yola, as Education officer II in the year 2000 and subsequently re-posted to Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC) Minjibir, Kano State, in 2003. In 2007, he joined Kano University of Science and Technology (KUST), Wudil, and shortly after his graduation from FUT Yola (2007), he was employed by the Department of Science and Technology Education, Bayero University Kano (as Assistant Lecturer) from 2008 to date. While at Bayero University, he was given a fellowship to study Ph.D. in Technical and Vocational Education at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) from 2010 to 2013. During his study fellowship at UTM, he held the position of President of Nigerian Students, from 2011-to 2012 and the President of International Students from 2012-to 2013. Ali has held many appointments inclusive of Postgraduate Coordinator, Head of Department and also a member of several committees in the university.
