Engr. Muhammad Ali, mnse

 

Muhammad Ali is an experienced professional in engineering, strategy management and administration. He is the Deputy Project Director in Strategy Management Deparment, Central Bank of Nigeria. Born in Kano, April 1965, Engineer Ali is a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria where he obtained Bachelor’s degree (BEng.) in Electrical Engineering in 1988 and proceeded to do his national youth service (NYSC). He also obtained Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) in 2002 and Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2011 from the same University. After the NYSC in 1989, he worked briefly with Kano State Government Rural Electricity Board (REB) undertaking maintenance, repair & commissioning of installed transformers in Kabo, Gwarzo, Shanono and other Local Government Areas of the State. In 1990, he joined the services of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Building & Engineering Services Dept (BESD) which was later renamed Procurement & Support Services Department (PSSD). He spent 28years career in the department (1990-2018) providing technical and support services to all business units and branches of CBN inclusive of equipment/machine maintenance and power management, tender evaluation of contracts, project management & implementation, facilities management and providing ICT infrastructure. He supervised, designed and executed various projects amongst which were Tier 3 Data Centre at the Head Office of the Bank, construction of a world-class Dealing room where real-time-online trading are done by staff in the domestic and international financial markets, state of the Art Monetary Policy conference room where strategic economic policy meetings are conducted. He designed & executed Bosch Security Surveillance System and CEM Access Control System design and installations for 18 Branches of the CBN. The biggest project supervised as client representative was the construction of CBN Head Office complex in Abuja (1999-2003). On completion of the construction work, Engr. Ali was assigned the supervision (as the Facility Manager) and to manage the outsourced services in the maintenance of the Head Office Building by Almubarak Waqf Foundation Corporate Brochure 42 Messrs. Julius Berger Nig. Ltd, now JBN Facilities Nigeria which he did diligently for more than 15 years and earned CBN the best managed building Award by the Nigerian Branch of International Facilities Management Association (IFMA) USA for 5 years consecutively. Leveraging on his experience and enterprise knowledge of the key and critical functions and operations of the Bank, as an enabler to all business units while in PSSD, he was deployed, in 2018, to Strategy Management Department (SMD) which has the responsibility of developing and management of the CBN Corporate Strategy. He was assigned the Group Head of Strategic Initiative Management (SIMG), Enterprise Architecture (EA) Group and subsequently, Administrator of the Department in 2022. He participated in the development of the Bank’s New Strategy, 2021-2024. Engr. Ali is registered with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) (1999) and a member of Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE), British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM), Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM), Commodity Brokers Association of Nigeria (CBAN) and Institute of Strategic Management Nigeria (ISMN). He has attended numerous courses and programmes in project management, facility management, leadership and strategy. They include Project Management, Prince 2, Performance & Portfolio Management, Data Analysis and Reporting Technics, Certified Data Centre Designer, Expert and Operations Manager, Economic & Technical Evaluations in Engineering and Maintenance Projects, Facilities Contract Management, Managing the Built Environment, Microsoft Power BI, Inspirational leadership and Executive Leadership Management. The strategy courses include Managing and Leading Strategic Change, TOGAF Awareness, Strategic Initiatives and Impact Assessment, Strategies for leading successful change initiative: Empowering Professional Leadership Dynamics.
