Hajiya Asmau Abba Salihi Esq.

Hajiya Asmau is a Barrister at Law (BL) 1990,
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) in Shari’ah and
Common Law from Usmanu Danfodio
University Sokoto in 1989. Born in Sokoto,
Sokoto State of Nigeria, she attended Sultan
ward primary school Sokoto from 1974 – 1979,
Government Girls College Sokoto from 1979 –
1981 and then moved to Government
Secondary School, Isa 1981-1984. As a
Barrister at Law, she was Called to the Bar in
December 1990, having successfully completed
her professional training in the Nigerian Law School, Lagos.
During her national youth service period, she served with Sokoto State Ministry of
Justice as a State Counsel and subsequently redeployed to Gamji Bank of
Nigeria Plc as Legal Assistant. She was later employed by the bank in 1992.
Having worked in two departments, this gave her much experience in banking in
addition to her legal profession. In 1997, Hajiya Asmau voluntarily resigned from
the services of the bank and ventured into private legal practice. She established
a law firm by the name Messrs. N.A. Abubakar & Co. She also went into poultry
farming. With determination to improve on her competence, she enrolled for and
successfully obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer (PGDC) from
Bayero University, Kano in 2004. She also obtained a diploma in Arabic and
Islamic Studies at the C.A.S. Garki, Abuja (under affiliation with Ahmadu Bello
University, A.B.U., Zaria) in 2021. She is a member of various da’awah
associations, a teacher and a co-proprietress of some Islamic schools.
