Associate Prof. Ummalkhair Aminu Dantata

Ummalkhair Aminu Dantata is currently an
associate Professor with the Department of
Linguistics and Foreign Languages at Bayero
University Kano. Her research interest in
Morphology of languages has been acknowledged
in several published papers. She contributed vastly
to the compilation and edition of an immensely
acclaimed Hausa dictionary produced by the Centre
for Study of Nigerian Languages, Bayero University
Kano. In addition to her academic activities, she has
been active in the university administration where
she held posts and served as a member of several departmental and university
committees. Among which are: Level Coordinator, Deputy Examination Officer, Hall
Advisor, Faculty of Arts and Islamic Studies Business Committee, Student Disciplinary
Committee and Welfare and Humanitarian Support Muslim Ummah Forum BUK, among
others.
Ummalkhair Aminu Dantata is a gifted scholar and linguist, who stands out as a symbol
of the symbiotic relationship between the Ivory Tower and the Society. She has parlayed
her expertise knowledge towards improving the lot of women and youth in kano state.
Her spirit of philanthropy has brought about a succor to the helpless and the
disadvantaged in the society.
She is an ardent community worker whose concern for the masses is genuine and
unbridled. To allow her to make significant impact to the lives of women and youth, she
founded the non-governmental organization, Concerned Citizens of Nigeria (CONCIN),
where she is the executive Director. In that capacity, she has helped build numerous
boreholes in urban and rural areas within and outside kano state. She has also
empowered many women and youth through training and grants. She is also a member
of the board of trustees of another (NGO) the Kidney Care and Transplant Foundation
Trust, which caters for people with kidney problems, which is a debilitating disease that
consumes a person not only physically and mentally, but also financially. She is also a
member of the Community Advisory Board (CAB) of the Vanderbilt Research and
Administration Management Program (VRAMP) in Nigeria.
Though a widely traveled woman, she remains attached to her roots with an ardent
respect for the value system and culture of the society she lives in. Ummalkhair Aminu
Dantata is a quintessential family woman: an emblem of humility, a loving wife, and a
passionate mother
